For anyone new to SEO or wanting more information, I strongly suggest spending some time reading through the Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide to familiarize yourself with some of the terminology and best-practices. It is a great way to get an overview of what the SEO basics are all about.
One thing that the guide makes it a point to highlight, and which we also emphasize, is that it is important not to get lost in the minutia of the little tweaks and changes recommended by the search engines. At the end of the day you want to build websites for PEOPLE, because ultimately they are your consumers – not search engines.
